Senior Scientist, Molecular Immunology*

We are seeking an innovative, collaborative, and enthusiastic immunologist to be a part of the Molecular Immunology research team. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic and collaborative matrix environment with the goal of developing a neoantigen-specific T cell product to be used in adoptive T cell therapy. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work closely with the departments of T cell Immunology, Process Development and Cancer Immunology to develop and assess the efficacy of this approach. Our new researcher will be a thought leader in the team and responsible for improving our current platform and identifying other areas for enhancement. This position reports to Associate Director, Molecular Immunology.

Supporting BioNTech’s R&D team in the US by:
  • Culture and expansion of primary immune cells and cell lines
  • Assessment of specificity and functionality of T cells by multicolor flow cytometry 
  • Genetic modification of primary immune cells
  • Work within a cross-functional matrix team to deliver against program timelines
  • Tracking and compiling results in an electronic notebook 
  • Analysis and presentation of results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Train and supervise research associates to accomplish program and company goals

What you have to offer.

  • Minimum requirements; Ph. D in T cell Immunology, Cancer Immunology or related discipline with 2 years of post-doctoral experience with 5 years of experience in T cell Immunology or related discipline.
    • A strong interest in T cell biology and cancer immunotherapy
    • Primary immune cell culture experience required
    • Demonstrated experience with ELISpot, flow cytometry and other immune related assays.
    • Strong mastery of multicolor flow cytometry for T cell characterization (12+ colors)
    • Ability to work independently, as well as in a collaborative environment to meet project goals.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Enjoys solving challenging scientific questions in a fast-paced environment.
    • Motivated to mentor younger scientists on the team
