(Senior) Scientist* Molecular Diagnostics Liquid Biopsy (CDx IVD Development)

As part of the Molecular Diagnostics team, you will support the liquid biopsy and IVD development experts to provide solutions for biomarker analysis in BNT’s clinical and R&D programs by analyzing data, evaluating methods, supporting vendor selection or qualification, and overseeing technical and quality aspects of liquid biopsy and other molecular biology tests. Your main responsibilities are:
  • Independently plan and organize method development, method evaluation and/or method validation strategies working in line with laboratory guidelines and quality system
  • Analyze and interpret data
  • Document activities, e.g., write plans and reports, establish and review of SOPs
  • Internal presentation of technical data, results, and project updates
  • Manage project demands, internal and external collaborations regarding biomarker/diagnostic testing ensuring good quality results and timely delivery of data
  • Research of relevant scientific literature to follow developments in the field of expertise

What you have to offer.

  • PhD in a relevant field (Genomics, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology)
  • Domain knowledge in liquid biopsies and cancer genomics (experience in somatic variant calling, gene expression analysis, and biomarkers such as TMB, MSI, LOH, HRD, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with and good understanding of next generation sequencing technologies including library preparation methods, data analysis and interpretation
  • Knowledge in assay development using molecular biology techniques like PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR, ddPCR
  • Preferably previous experience working in a quality-controlled environment (ISO13485, GCP/GC(L)P) and basic knowledge of assay development processes (IVD devices)
  • Pro-active mentality and a genuine interest and understanding of the area of expertise and the science supporting BioNTech´s development programs
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills in English, spoken and written
