At BioNTech, you will contribute to non-clinical development and safety activities for global R&D programs and new technology platforms during different stages of pharmaceutical development by implementing strategic drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK) paths. BioNTech is expanding its activities towards new therapeutic modalities in different disease areas. With your activities you will enable clinical translation of our first-in-class immunotherapeutics and vaccines by the assessment of absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and pharmacokinetics (ADME/PK) of biologics and novel excipients. Your duties in detail:
  • Provide leadership, develop and execute effective non-clinical ADME and PK strategies from early discovery through clinical development and registration
  • Plan, design, execute and report program-specific non-clinical pharmacokinetic (ADME) studies to support development and rapid registration of BioNTech products
  • Manage interactions with external CROs to ensure high quality and on-time execution of DMPK studies
  • Delivery of project goals through interpretation of results and integration of data with other disciplines to contribute to decision making
  • Authoring and review of critical modules for submission packages (Investigator Brochure, IND, scientific advices, regulatory requests) and representation of pharmacokinetic and DMPK in global health authority interactions
  • Partnering with research leads for the design and data analysis/interpretation of pharmacokinetic (PK), toxicokinetic and pharmacodynamics (PD) aspects of preclinical studies
  • Aligning program-specific and platform overarching pharmacokinetic activities in cross-functional teams with pre-clinical and clinical stakeholders

What you have to offer.

  • Degree in life sciences, pharmacy, bioanalytical sciences, pharmacokinetics or equivalent. Preferably advanced degree incl. PhD/MD/VMD
  • Several years of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry including a strong understanding of early and late drug development process in ADME and DMPK
  • A track record of transitioning projects from discovery to the early and late clinical stages in cross-functional program teams in a matrix environment
  • Able to demonstrate successful prediction of PK and PK/PD relationships based on preclinical data
  • Experience in the design and oversight of in vitro and in vivo DMPK studies, review and summarize results, integrate ADME, PK, and PK/PD information to guide development team
  • Experience executing DMPK studies with external vendors, incl. delivering high-quality data, tracking performance, and collaborating effectively
  • Proficient in using Phoenix WinNonlin for PK calculations/NCA. Familiarity with other PK/PD and modeling software like R, NONMEM, MATLAB is a plus
