Scientist* Molecular Diagnostics (Molecular Biology)

As part of the Molecular Diagnostics team, you will support the Molecular Diagnostics Assay development specialists to provide solutions for biomarker analyses in BNT’s clinical and R&D programs by overseeing assay development projects, preparing and/or reviewing development plans/reports according to high quality standards. Oversee method transfers to GC(L)P or CAP/CLIA laboratory environment

Your main responsibilities are:
  • Independently plan and organize assay development, method development and/or method evaluation
  • Design and conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data working in line with laboratory guidelines (CLSI) and quality system
  • Document activities, e.g., write experimental plans, assay development/evaluation reports, establish and review SOPs
  • Internal presentation of results and project updates
  • Manage project demands, internal and external collaborations with regard to biomarker/diagnostic testing ensuring quality and timely delivery of data
  • Training and supervision of Research Associates and Research Specialists

What you have to offer.

  • PhD in Life Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry, Genomics (or a related area)
  • Hands-on experience with and good understanding of PCR-based methods like qPCR, RT-qPCR or ddPCR technologies.
  • Knowledge in qualitative and quantitative assay development using molecular biology techniques like PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR, ddPCR, including e.g., multiplexing, design of hydrolysis probes.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant CLSI guidelines is a plus
  • Preferably experience with working in a quality-controlled environment (ISO13485, GCP/GC(L)P), basic knowledge of assay development processes (IVD devices) favorable
  • Pro-active mentality and a genuine interest and understanding of the area of expertise and the science supporting BioNTech´s development programs
  • Excellent organization and attention to details
  • Team player with good communication skills in English
