Research Specialist* Cell Engineering

At BioNTech, you are supporting us in performing and establishing genome engineering procedures in human primary cells and cell lines as well as their characterization. Your main responsibilities are:
  • Practical support towards establishment and optimization of genome engineering based methods for therapeutic Gene transfer into cell lines and primary immune cells as well as generation of knock-in and knock-out cell lines
  • Independent implementation of cell culture-based in vitro methods for analysis of engineered and edited cells.
  • Cloning of plasmid vectors as well as establishment of molecular biology assays such as genotyping of knockout cell lines
  • Formulation of SOPs for established methods. Preparing and presenting the experimental results during weekly meetings
  • Independent execution of experiments and documentation

What you have to offer.

  • Successfully completed training as BTA*, MTA*, Biology laboratory technician* or similar qualification
  • Experience with cell culture of primary immune cells and cell lines, Electroporation, Reagent-based transfection, Flow cytometry analysis, Cell sorting, Immunostaining, Microscopy and other relevant methods
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques, PCR, Sanger sequencing, Plasmid preparation and work with plasmid design tools
  • Practical experience with general cell culture and immunological methods and assays for characterization of modified cells. Experience in working with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel etc.
  • Very good organization skills, as well as excellent communication and English language skills
