BioNTech is seeking a highly-motivated Instrument & Calibration Technician to perform routine calibrations, preventive maintenance and repairs to instruments systems and components of laboratory equipment, production equipment, central utilities and building management systems in support to a Clinical Manufacturing, Product Development and Research facilities. Actively participates in scheduling meetings with operations partners to finalize priority of work orders, optimum downtime windows, and necessary lead times to minimize operations disruptions. Trouble shoot problems in the event of instrument failure and be able to recommend part needed for the effective repair.

Supporting BioNTech’s Facilities team by:
  • Assist manufacturing and laboratories operation personnel in trouble shooting and diagnostic analysis on process and utility equipment.
  • Test control systems and assist in validation of new and existing manufacturing facilities
  • Continuously evaluate maintenance/calibration practices to eliminate nonproductive activities and implement productivity enhancements
  • Familiar with NEC and local electrical codes and electrical equipment such as: electrical switchgear, power distribution equipment and emergency generator.
  • Additional basic functions:
    • Ability to use basic hand tools
    • Utilize precision tools measuring instruments
    • Must be able to read, write and utilize drawings, mathematics, and handbook formulas.
    • Read mechanical schematics and piping diagrams P&ID’s

What you have to offer.

  • Minimum requirements; High School Diploma, GED, Certificate of completion at a 2-year technical school with equivalent experience in plant and equipment maintenance.
  • 5 plus years of facilities and maintenance operations experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry or military training and experience in relevant field..
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must possess full knowledge of the fundamental operating principles of industrial process instrumentation and process control systems
  • Be proficient in ISA standards and practices for instrumentation
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Computerized Maintenance and Calibration Management Systems
  • Previous experience working in highly regulated manufacturing environments desirable.
  • Demonstrates extensive understanding and application of maintenance principles, concepts, and practices, and standards.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety regulations.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to:
    • Apply common sense, understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.
    • Deal with problem involving a few concrete variables in a standardize situations.
    • Work with minimal supervision. Work may be done without establish procedures.
    • To read, understand and work from Standard Operating Procedures, OEM Manuals, P&ID’s, electrical and piping schematics.
    • Self-managed, self-starter, detailed oriented and be able to complete any required (GxP) documentation in a timely manner, including logbooks, log sheets and work orders
    • Read Electrical schematics and single line diagram
    • Must be able to work in a clean room environment

Preferred requirements; Associates Degree, experience in life sciences.
