Head* of Vendor Management (Senior Director* Global Clinical Sourcing )

As the Head* of Vendor Management (Senior Director* Global Clinical Sourcing), you will build the vendor management strategy and structure for Clinical Development Operations at BioNTech. Your main responsibilities are:
  • Lead the vendor management function and be accountable for all vendor oversight processes
  • Support the Vice President* Clinical Development Operations cross-functional efforts to build out processes necessary to identify, evaluate and execute on functional growth opportunities
  • Collaborate with other internal functions (e.g. Translational Sciences, Procurement, Finance) to ensure full vendor contract and business compliance
  • Serve as the central point of contact for all vendor relationships, questions, and issue management. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and vendors including oversight/support of governance structures
  • Establish key metrics by which vendor performance will be measured. Create and execute centralized reporting to monitor vendor performance against critical and contractual service level agreements

What you have to offer.

  • Master’s degree in a life science or healthcare related field or comparable qualification. Advanced degree highly preferred
  • Many years of professional experience in clinical operations, strategic sourcing, clinical procurement, or vendor management as well as supervisory experience
  • Experience in relationship management, ideally managing large, complex vendor relationships across functions
  • Demonstrated experience developing/implementing strategic sourcing models and in supplier relationship development and management
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in resolving complex study and program management issues including supplier related performance management
  • In depth knowledge of the clinical supplier and vendor markets preferred, including applicable regulations and compliances
  • Ability to think strategically and to translate strategy into actions
  • Solid understanding of clinical trial execution and multi-national pharma, Institutional Review Boards, Ethic Committees regulations and medical guidelines
  • Experience working with external parties and/or leading cross-functional teams
  • Ability to be able to navigate a highly dynamic organization effectively
  • Ability to prioritize and provide clear direction to team members in a highly dynamic environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence at all levels across all functions and build trust and effective relationships across functions
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to make effective presentations, and proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders
  • Focused and versatile team player
  • High proficiency of English language, German is a plus
