Associate Scientist, Peptide Chemistry

Here, you’ll achieve greatness.

Supporting BioNTech’s R&D team in the US by:
  • Performing Fmoc solid phase peptide synthesis and characterization of resulting peptide materials using automated peptide synthesizers and UPLC-MS instrumentation.
  • Performing peptide purification using preparatory scale HPLC-MS.
  • Managing routine laboratory operations including inventory/reagent monitoring, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, aligning with EHS for hazardous waste management, and keeping the laboratories in compliance with EHS requirements.
  • Tracking and compiling results in an electronic notebook and maintaining organized repositories of data and materials.
  • Working efficiently in order to meet deadlines to support Research Team projects and programs.

What you have to offer.

  • BS in chemistry or a related field with 5 years experience in a laboratory setting.
  • 5 years experience in peptide chemistry, including experience with automated peptide synthesizers and LC-MS instrumentation.
  • Experience with safe laboratory practices, handling of hazardous material, and maintaining EHS requirements in the laboratory
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to multitask, and excellent organizational skills
Preferred Requirements:
  • Previous experience with Waters LC-MS equipment, CEM and Biotage peptide synthesizers, and the associated software is highly desired
  • MS in chemistry or related field is preferred.
