We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist to join BioNTech’s Cancer Immunology team focused on novel T cell therapies targeting solid tumors at our Cambridge, MA location. Specifically, the individual will be part of the Cell Therapy program focused on in vitro and in vivo studies for chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy. In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing in vitro assays for identifying lead candidates, performing immunogenicity screening, and supporting in vivo studies in mouse tumor models. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work closely with the departments of T cell therapy, chemistry, and biochemistry to develop and assess the efficacy of our T cell products.

Supporting BioNTech’s R&D team in the US by:
   
  • Develop and implement new in vitro assays to characterize CAR T cell binding, cytotoxicity, and T cell function
  • Design and perform analysis of multicolor flow cytometry data
  • Support in vivo studies assaying CAR function in mouse tumor models
  • Establish standard operating procedures and protocols
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the US and Germany

What you have to offer.

  • Minimum requirements; Bachelor's Degree in immunology, biomedical Sciences or a closely related field with 4 plus years of relevant experience
  • Strong skills in cell culture and aseptic techniques, as well as experience with the cultivation of primary human cells
  • Previous hands-on experience with cell isolation, flow cytometry, and assay development
  • Experience with primary T cell-based assays (e.g. ELISPOT, ELISA, cytotoxicity)
  • Experience with in vivo mouse tumor models is a plus
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able embrace change, while working to produce key deliverables in accordance with project timelines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate results to a diverse cross-functional audience
  • Proactive, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills, appropriate sense of urgency and the ability to work independently

Preferred requirements; Masters degree in immunology, biomedical sciences.
