 Position is based in Gaithersburg, Maryland 

The Associate Director, Senior HR Generalist is a newly created position to support to recent addition of BioNTech’s Gaithersburg, MD site. In this role, you will act as the onsite HR site leader and will be very closely aligned to the site business operations while also being part of an evolving HR team. Integral to our success, you will drive strategic HR support in the areas of employee relations, compliance, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, performance management, organizational development, and career development.

Supporting BioNTech’s team in the US with the following responsibilities:
First point of HR contact for all Gaithersburg management and employees.
  • Participate in workforce planning with local leadership to ensure that BioNTech develops a world class workforce at the site that will enable us to meet our ambitious goals.
  • Serve as a contact for employees and managers to address people matters that require in depth knowledge of company policies and procedures, communicating complex and sensitive information, handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Recommend and develop employee relations programs and practices to foster employee engagement, satisfaction and provide a best-in-class employee experience in a highly competitive market.
  • Support all HR lifecycle items from recruitment, new hire and contingent worker onboarding, professional development, policy administration, etc.
  • Actively seek for areas to improve and elevate systems and processes while understanding the business needs and potential HR solutions.

What you have to offer.

Minimum requirements; Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field, preferred or equivalent experience. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of broad HR experience.
  • Strong and proven HR capabilities and proven problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Track record of successful delivery in complex environments, such as post-merger integrations or high-growth environments.
  • Experience in life sciences industry required. 
  • A strong leader, communicator, and morale builder.
Preferred requirements; Experience in cell therapy is a huge plus. SHRM-CP/PHR or SHRM-SCP/SPHR or other HCI certification is preferred.
