Associate Director* Public Affairs Germany

As the Public Affairs Manager* Germany, you will develop and execute the local public affairs strategy, strengthening existing and building new relationships with relevant political and regulatory stakeholders. Your responsibilities will be in detail:
  • Lead all public and governmental affairs activities for the German affiliate to establish BioNTech as the leading German biotech-company
  • Engage with stakeholders, develop and implement suitable communication platforms and formats for building and maintaining a political network
  • Represent the interests of BioNTech vis-à-vis representatives of politics, administration, associations and civil society and identify potential risks and opportunities resulting from the political discourse
  • Support BioNTech’s management board in positioning and networking with stakeholders from politics, regulatory bodies, associations and civil society by developing strategies to demonstrate the value of our product candidates and portfolio
  • Observe and follow all political and regulatory developments relevant to the strategic goals of the company, currently heavily focused on topics related to Covid-19 vaccination and cancer treatments

What you have to offer.

  • Successfully completed university degree or a comparable education, ideally with a scientific focus connected with five up to seven years of professional experience in strategic communications and political advocacy in the biotechnology and/or health sector
  • An existing network of political/regulatory stakeholders in the fields of health, medical products and/or biotechnology and you feel comfortable managing communications for high-stakes issues
  • Experience in developing effective and creative public affairs campaigns that support the company's business objectives and you are familiar with biotechnology
  • Strong analytical skills, conceptual strength, an instinct for political and social trends and enthusiasm about our technologies
  • Ability to effectively manage senior level relationships across and outside the company, paired with a fluency in German and English (both written and spoken) as well as exceptional communications skills
